āryamañjuśriye ( kumārabhūtāya ) namaḥ
namo bhagavate śākyamunaye

budhvā yo hyavikalpatāṃ ca sugato'kalpyānaśeṣāṃśca saḥ
kārūṇyātiśayājjagaddhitakaro natvā ca taṃ gautamam |
sattvānāṃ hitakāmyayā''ptavacanāt sūtrācca vakṣyami tāṃ
bodhyāpattikadeśanāṃ jinasutavyāpattisaṃśodhinīm | |

traikāyikenaṃ sarvākārajñena buddhena bhagavatā śākyamuninā sarvasattvahitāya bahuvidhā saddharmadeśanā pravartitā | saṅgraha ( dṛṣṭyā ) saṅkalitā satī paryāpti ( āgama ) dharmaḥ ( buddhavacanāni ) dvādaśasu pravacanāṅgeṣu saṅgṛhyate | idaṃ tāvat ( triskandhasūtraṃ ) teṣu sūtrāṅge parigaṇyate | dvādaśāṅgānyapi piṭakatraye saṅgṛhyante | teṣu ( tripiṭakeṣu ) idaṃ ( triskandhasūtra ) sūtrapiṭake ( 'ntarbhūtaṃ ) bhavati | mukhyatastāvadidaṃ mahāyānavinaya ( piṭaka ) meva, ( yato hyasmin ) vastuno'ṅgasya cobhayornirdeśo vartate |

asyedaṃ paurāṇikaṃ ( kathānakam ) tathāhi-kautukādīnāṃ pañcatriṃśat ādikarmikāṇāṃ bodhisattvānāṃ rājagṛhe piṇḍāya caratāmavamardena tadā madyavikretuḥ ( ekaḥ ) putro mṛtaḥ | tadāpattideśanāyai upālinā prārthito bhagavān ( buddhaḥ ) idaṃ ( sūtraṃ ) adeśayat | bodhisattvakulasya mārgāṅgatvenedamanuvartate |

athavā rājagṛhe ( samupajātena ) puroja nāmadheyena brāhyaṇena pañcatriṃśad- vyādhakānadhikṛtya mithyā mārgo deśitaḥ falataḥ pañcatriṃśacchiraskamatsyarūpeṇa ( saḥ ) samutpannaḥ | tadarthamidaṃ ( sūtraṃ ) deśitamiti keṣucana grantheṣūpalabhyate, kintu ratnakūṭe nāstīdaṃ vacanamiti |

asyāḥ ( bodhyāpattideśanāyāḥ ) vyākhyānaṃ prayojanādinā prakāracatuṣkeṇāvagantavyam | kāni tāni ( prayojanādīni) pañcaprakārāṇi prayojanādīni | abhidheya stavad ( ādikarmikāṇāṃ ) bodhisattvānām āpattayastacchuddhikaraṇopāyaśca | abhidhānaṃ tu granthagatāni sarvāṇi vacāni | prayojanaṃ hi ( tāsām ) āpattīṇāṃ śuddhireva | prayojana- prayojanaṃ ( prayojananiṣṭhā ) tadupāyena buddhatvāvāptiḥ | sambandha-stāvadupāyopeyabhāva eva yaḥ khalvarthato nirdiṣṭaḥ |

ayaṃ saṃkṣepārthaḥ- triskandhānāṃ sapta ( skandhānāṃ ) vā śuddhiḥ catvāri vā balāni | trividhavivādādīnāṃ codya-parihārāśca sahaivāvagantavyāḥ |

tadayamupadeśābhiprāyaḥ- ānantaryādi ( pañca ) mahāpātakānyapi nirantarātyantavipratisāreṇa ebhiścaturbalaiḥ māsaṃ varṣa yāvat pañcabhiraṅgaiḥ sabhūmisparśa ( praṇāmena ) pratideśanayā śuddhalakṣaṇānvitāni bhavanti, śuddhāni bhavantīti |

madhye ( pāpagraste ) sati māsaṃ yāvat ( pratidinaṃ ) ṣaḍvāraṃ ( pratideśayet ) kṣudrakāṇāṃ ( pāpakānāṃ kṛte ) ( pratidinaṃ ) triṣu yāmeṣviti sapta dināni ( uparyuktavidhinā pratideśanā ) kartavyā | yadi āprattisaṃsparśāśaṅkā syāttadā dharmaikāṅgena ( pratideśanā ) vidheyā | ayamevopadeśasya ( vāstavikaḥ ) arthaḥ |

yadi pūrva 'evaṃ mayā śrutam' iti tathā ante ( bhagavato bhāṣitamabhyanandan ) ityādyantayoḥ ( vacanayoḥ) abhāvānnedaṃ buddhavacanamiti cenna, āryaratnakūṭadharmaparyāya- śatasāhasrikāsūtre nidānādisarvasyābhihitatvāt tata eva cāṃśato'sya ( triskandhasūtrarasya ) nirgatatvād asmin ( triskandhasūtre ) ( evaṃ mayā śrutamityādyantavacanayoḥ ) abhāvānnāsti virodhākhyo doṣaḥ |

( yadyevaṃ ) tarhi ( atra ) āpattimūlasyābhāvāt kasyāpi pratideśanā na jñāyeteti cet ? idaṃ tvasya ( granthasya ) āyantābhyāṃ ( bhāgābhyāṃ jñātuṃ ) śakyate | pañcatriṃśadbuddhānāṃ niścita (saṃkhyā) nirdhāraṇaṃ , pūrvoktānāṃ pañcatriṃśadvineyānām iṣṭasampādanaṃ ca ( teṣāṃ ) buddhānāṃ naikaṭayābhiprāyeṇaiveti | nedamasya tātparya yadatrānyeṣāṃ ( buddhānāṃ ) asamāveśo vā anyeṣu praṇāmābhāvo vā | asminneva ( granthe ) agre ityādi vacanena ( pañcatriṃśadatirikta buddheṣvapi namaskāraḥ) abhihitaḥ | nātra diśāviśeṣeṇa prayojanam, api tu dīrghāyuṣṭvānnirmāṇakāyasya tadanukūladiśāsu vidyamānatvāt daśasu dikṣu (vidyamānasattvānāṃ ) hitārtha daśidigāśrayaṇāccātra 'daśasu dikṣu' ityevaṃ ( kathitam ) | nātra atītā anāgatāśca buddhāaḥ sākṣirūpeṇa samuddhṛtāḥ saṃvṛtito virodhāt | atroddhṛtānāṃ sarveṣāṃ ( buddhānāṃ nāmnā saha ) tathāgata iti ( śabdaprayogo ) nāsti, kevalaṃ

caturbhiḥ sahaiva | ataśca arthata evaṃ ( sarveḥ saha tathāgataśabdasya vidyamānatvaṃ ) jñātavyaṃ manasā cālamambitavyam | ( śabdaśaḥ tathāgata- ( śabda )yogena vacanavirodhaḥ syāt , samastapadaiḥ deśitatvāditi |

atra tāvaccaturbhirbalaiḥ pāpadeśanā kartavyā | yato hi ( bhagavatā) buddhena 'caturdharmanirdeśa' ajātaśatrukaukṛtyavinodanasūtrayośca eteṣāṃ caturṇā ( balānāṃ ) mahatī anuśaṃsā kṛtā | idaṃ ( sūtradvayaṃ ) deayorbodhisattvayoḥ kṛte samupadiṣṭam |

atra ( triskandhasūtre) ko nāma dharmaḥ ? ityupālinā pṛcchā kṛtā | ayaṃ tasmin samaye bhagavato buddhasyāntevāsitvāt vinayavacanāni saṃgātupālernidiṣṭatvācca arhatparipṛcchayokto vinayaviniścayaḥ, yato hi mahāyānāpattivastūnyanena nirdhāritāni | ataḥ idaṃ ( triskandhasūtraṃ ) viśiṣṭaṃ vacanam | sāmānyenedaṃ ratnakūṭamabhidhīyate, triskandha ityapyabhidhīyate | namaskārapratideśanādyaparimita- puṇyaskandhādīnāṃ ( nirdeśakaḥ ) ayaṃ laghuḥ triskandhaḥ , na tu bṛṃhīyān | atra bodhyāpattideśanāyāṃ bodherabhiprāyastāvanmahābodhyarthakaḥ | sattva ityavaśiṣṭaṃ ( padam ) | athavā bodhyā pātayatīti bodhyāpattiriti tṛtīyāyāḥ prayogaḥ karaṇīyaḥ | ime hi ādikarmikabodhisattvā adhimukticaryābhūmisthitā ( vineya )-janāḥ , na tu prāthamabhūmikā bodhisattvā ti jñātavyam | asyāmāpattau satyāṃ durgatau gamyate | asyā āpatteḥ sthūlāyāḥ sūkṣmāyāḥ pārājayika-duṣkṛtāduṣkṛtānāṃ ca kramaḥ sūtrasyāsya

pūrvabhāgād anyebhyaśca ( granthebhyaḥ ) jñātavyaḥ | pratideśanāgatopāyāḥ sūtrasyāsyāntime ( bhāge ) vistareṇāvaseyāḥ | idaṃ tāvadāpattīnāṃ viśodhanamātram | tāsu āpattiṣu satīṣu pratideśanaiva viśuddhiḥ | sā'pi dvividhā -

(1) pāramarthikī pratideśanā- ( iyaṃ ) ( ajātaśatruḥ ) kaukṛtya- vinodasūtrānusāraṃ sarvadharmaniḥsvabhāvatācintanameva | iyaṃ hi mahāpatideśanā | yathoktam -

ṛjuḥ sthitvā ca sampaśyenmahatī saiva deśanā |
draṣṭavyaṃ bhūtato bhūtaṃ bhūtadarśī vimucyate | |
ityuktam |

(2) sāṃvṛtikī pratideśanā- iyaṃ tāvaccaturbhibalaiḥ sakaukṛtyena ca manasā sarva namaskārādikaṃ māyopamabuddhyā karaṇīyamiti | ( iyaṃ hi ) laghupratideśanā |

etadartha ( sūtrārtham upālinā ) nivedite sati bhagavān teṣāṃ bodhisattvānāmarthāya raśmibhirdaśadigavasthitān catustriṃśadbuddhādīn anekān nimantrayāmāsa |

atrākāśasthitānāṃ ( buddhabodhisattvānāmagre uktāpattikāḥ ) bodhisattvāḥ sakaukṛtyāḥ pūjāṃ cittotpādaṃ śaraṇagamanaṃ namaskārāt prabhṛti pāpadeśanaṃ yāvat yugapat kṛtvā sarvapāpaiḥ suviśuddhāḥ ( bhūtvā ) prathamabhūmisthitā abhūvan | tadanu tadanuyāyināṃ tāvāt vijane sthāne maṇḍalena pūjayā ( pañcatriṃśadbuddhānāṃ ) citropasthānena gurūpadeśa

taścittotpādādinā saha pratideśanākaraṇena sarvapāpaviśuddhirbhaviṣyatīti | phalataśca samyaksaṃbuddhatvamavāpsyate | ayamevāsya vidhiriti |

tada (nantaraṃ) sarvaprathamaṃ yathārthapratideśanā tāvat āśrayabalainaivaṃ pāpapratideśanam- 'ahaṃ amukānāmā' ityādinā abhihitam | idamatra jñātavyaṃ yat āśrayabhūtān pañcatriṃśadbuddhān sampūjya samabhyarcya dvividhibodhicittotpārdo vidheyaḥ | tadanantaraṃ dvitīyataḥ śaraṇagamanaṃ kartavyam | atra 'ahaṃ amukanāmā' iti sāmānyato'pi ( nirdeśe ) viśeṣataḥ svamasādhāraṇaṃ nāmoccāraṇīyam bhīmaseneṣu mahābhīmasenavat | na kevalaṃ svayameva, api tu anyaiḥ kalyāṇamitrairye ātmānamupakṛtavantaḥ mātāpitarau yau kṛtajñatāyā bhājanabhūtau , anantaiśca sattvaiḥ āgaganaṃ vyāpibhiḥ sattvairye ātmanā upakāryāḥ taiḥ sarveḥ saha śaraṇaṃ gantavyam | kasmin ? buddhadiṣu | katham ? vācā cittena ca | ( ityevaṃ ) śaraṇagamanasvarūpādikamapi jñātavyam |

atra buddhasya ( tātparyadvayam)- śāstā phalaprāptaśca yaśca trikāyātmakaḥ | idaṃ tāvad asmākaṃ taccharaṇagamanasya tātparyam yad ( buddhyā ) tannirbharatvaṃ nāma | namaskārārtho'pyatra kāyavākcittaistathaiva suniyatatvaṃ nāma | tathaiva dharmo'pi paryāpti ( pariyatti )- pratipattibhedena ( dvividhaḥ ) | so'pi āgamādhigamaparamārthātmakaḥ , hetuphalātmaka ( ityarthaḥ ) | saṃgho'pi pratipannakāśrayābhedyārthakatvena saṃgha ( ucyate ) | so'pi śrāvaka-pratyekabuddha-bodhisattvasaṃgha iti ( trividhaḥ ) | atra tu bodhisattvasaṃgha iti avaivartikasaṃgha evābhipretaḥ |

ityevam āśrayabalaṃ pratipādya idānīṃ vidūṣaṇāasamudācārabalena pāpadeśanārtha tathāgate tyādyuktam | tadapi pāpavastupratideśanāṅgatvena pañcatriṃśadbuddheṣu namaskaraṇameva, anena pāpaśuddhirbhavatīti | tatra ( krameṇa ) āgāminaḥ sarve buddhāḥ sammukhāgatā ratna-siṃha-padam-

candrāsaneṣu ( virājitāḥ ) pravrajitanirmāṇakāyāḥ lakṣaṇānuvyañjanaprabhāyuktāḥ kāyavarṇa-kṣetra-digdigantara-cīvarāyudhādīn dhārayitvā vajraparyaṅkamudrāsthitā vividhaparṣadbhiḥ saha buddhāḥ vakṣyamāṇakrameṇa madhyabhāgata ārabhya kramaśaḥ daśasu diśāsu virājamānā ālambanīyāḥ | ( tānabhilakṣya namaskārādi karaṇīyam ) | tadapi ( kalpanayā ) anekakāyān nirmāya vākcittādhimuktyā taccaraṇeṣu namaskaraṇīyamiti | athavā mandaprajñāḥ ( tathāvidhālambanabhāvanāyāmasamarthāḥ ) ( purūṣā ) api ekamukhaḥ dvihastaḥ dharmadeśanā ( mudrāvirājitaḥ ) piṇḍapātārtha cārikāṃ caran vā bhūmisparśādimudrāsthito vā buddhaḥ iti viditvā sarvāṃśca (buddhān) śvetavarṇādīn yathāruci samānavarṇān viditvā namaskaraṇīyāḥ | eteṣvasmākaṃ śāstā pramukhaḥ | enaṃ vihāya śeṣāḥ ( anye buddhāḥ ) anekakalpaparyantaṃ virājanta iti jñātavyam |

eteṣu prathamaṃ tāvanmadhye virājamānasya lokapaterbuddhasya guṇā(nākhyātuṃ) tathāgatetyādyāha | ( tathāgata-tātparya ) śabdabalena tathatā- ( adhigama )-vānityuktam, tathatādhigamalīnatvāt punarāgatatvācca ( tathāgata ityucyate ) | ata eva sa sarvebhyaḥ ( āryapudgalebhyo devebhyaśca ) viśiṣṭa iti | kleśajñeyāvaraṇārīṇāṃ hantṛtvād arhan iti | anena bodhisattvebhyastasya vaiśiṣṭyaṃ ( prardiśatam ) | samyagi ti aviparītam | anena saṃsārād hīnayānācca ( vaiśiṣṭyaṃ pratipāditam ) sampanna iti sambhāradvayena sva-parārtha- ( sampadbhyāṃ ca sampannaṃ ) kāyadvayamiti | prahāṇasya jñānasya ca bhedadvayena buddho bhavatīti | ābhyāṃ tāvat saṃsāranirvāṇasthitebhyaḥ sarvapudgalebhyo viśiṣṭaḥ ( buddhaḥ ) pradarśitaḥ śākyamuniriti tadarthaḥ | ( arthataḥ ) tajjñānaṃ sāmarthya guṇāścaiva ( buddhatvam ) | 'śā' iti jñānam aśeṣajñānamityarthaḥ | 'kya' ityavabodhaḥ | 'muniḥ' ityadvayatayā yuktatvam | muniḥ ( śākya ) iti vā śākyarājavaṃśe jātatvād doṣajanmanāṃ vijetā iti | etattāvattat kāritram | guṇena śākya- ( śabda ) sya ( tātparyam ) ativiśiṣṭamiti |

kāyavākcittānāma- sādhāraṇasaṃvareṇa sa muniḥ | tasmai namaskāra iti tribhirdvāraiḥ śraddhāprasādayogena namaskaraṇam | ayaṃ ( buddhaḥ ) madhyāsanāsīnaḥ pīta ( varṇaḥ ) dharmopadeśamudrānvita ityavagantavyam |

pūrvavat pañca viśeṣaṇāni trisraśca vyākhyāḥ paścād āgāmibhiḥ ( sarvabuddhaiḥ ) ca sambaddhā ityavabodhyam | jñānādīnāṃ tātparya dṛṣṭānta- ( balena ) arthabalena ca śabdadvayena ekena vā vyaktīkariṣyate |

(2) upariṣṭād gaganagarbha( buddha ) - kṣetre sthitaḥ nīla ( varṇaḥ ) ( hastayoḥ ) dhṛtavajradvayaḥ , ( sa ca tathāgataḥ ) vajragarbhapramardī iti | atra 'vajram' iti vajropamaṃ nirvikalpakaṃ jñānam | tacca sarvaguṇotpattisthānatvād 'garbhaḥ' ityapi | kleśādīnāṃ sarveṣāṃ ( vipakṣāvaraṇānāṃ ) prahāṇaṃ tatkāritram |

(3) pūrvasyāṃ diśi ratnabhava( buddha ) - kṣetre ( tathāgataḥ ) ratnārcīḥ śveta ( varṇaḥ ) dvābhyāṃ karābhyāṃ kramaśaḥ ) vajraṃ sūrya ca dhārayan virājate | atra ratnamiti ratnavatsarvavidha ( prātihāryādi ) - balānvitatvāt, tadidaṃ ( eteṣāṃ ) guṇaḥ | arciriti jñānaprakāśaḥ | tatsvabhāvasya sphuṭatvāttena ajñānāndhakāro'panīyate | tadevaṃ arcistāvattatkāritramiti | yena sarvasattvānām ajñānaṃ dūrīkriyate |

(4) ( tathāgataḥ ) nāgeśvararājaḥ dakṣiṇapūrvadiśāyāṃ nāgavyāptasya ( buddha ) kṣetrasya ( śāstā ) bhavati | ( ayaṃ ) nīla ( varṇaḥ ) ( dvābhyāṃ hastābhyāṃ kramaśaḥ ) nāgalatāṃ nīlasarpa ca dhārayati | nāga iti jñānam | yathā nāge śaityaṃ duṣṭatvaṃ ca bhavati tathaiva jñānamapi kleśa ( santāpa ) -rahitaṃ nimittānāṃ vināśakamiti | aiśvarya hi ( teṣāṃ ) kṛtyam , yena sarvaguṇādhipatitvaṃ nirvāhyate | rājeti tadguṇaḥ, yena rājeva sarveṣu pratāpavān manojñaḥ nirbhayaśca |

(5) ( tathāgataḥ ) vīrasenaḥ dakṣiṇasyāṃ diśi vīravatyāṃ ( buddha ) -bhūmau ( śāstṛtvena tiṣṭhati ) | pīta ( varṇaḥ ) sa ( dvābhyāṃ hastābhyāṃ kramaśaḥ ) pustakaṃ khaṅgaṃ ca dhārayan virājate| vīra iti jñānam, yannirdvandram adamyaṃ ca | athavā vīreti karma, yena sattvānāṃ sarvavidhasāṃsārikaraṇānāṃ vināśaḥ kriyate | seneti guṇaḥ | ayaṃ hi anekaguṇagaṇānvita iti |

(6) dakṣiṇapaścimāyāṃ diśi nandavatī ( buddha ) kṣetre ( tathāgataḥ ) vīranandī, piṅgala ( varṇaḥ ) ( hastadvaye kramaśaḥ ) sūrya raktapadaṃ ca dhārayan ( virājate ) | atra vīreti jñānaṃ karma ca | ( arthastvasya ) pūrvavadavagantavyaḥ | nandanaṃ ( eteṣāṃ ) guṇaḥ | karūṇānvitena manasā ime sattvahitāya pravṛttāḥ santīti |

(7) ( tathāgataḥ ) ratnāgniḥ pratīcyāṃ ( diśi ) ābhāsavatī ( buddha- ) kṣetre'sti ( śāstā ) | rakta ( varṇa ) -maṇiratnam agnimaṇḍalaṃ ca ( hastayoḥ kramaśaḥ ) dhārayan virājate | ratnamityatra jñānam | ( yena ratnavad ) kalpanārahitena arthāḥ prāpyante | athavā ratnaṃ ( eteṣāṃ ) guṇaḥ, ( yena ) samādhyādayaḥ sarvāḥ lokottarasampattayaḥ prāpyante | agniriti ( teṣāṃ ) kāritram, ( yena ) te jñānena mahatā vīryeṇa ca sattvahitaṃ prasādhya kleśādīṃśca dahanti |

(8) ( tathāgataḥ ) ratnacandraprabhaḥ śukla ( varṇaḥ ) paścimottaradiśāyāṃ suprabhe ( buddha- ) kṣetre'sti ( śāstā ) | ( hastayoḥ ) ratnaṃ candra ( maṇḍalaṃ ) ca dhārayati | ratnamatrāpi pūrvavadeteṣāṃ guṇaḥ | candraś ( caiteṣāṃ ) jñānamiti | jñānamasya paripūrṇaṃ atyantaśītalaṃ prakāśamānamityarthaḥ | prabhā caiteṣāṃ kāritram | karmāṇi kleśādīṃśca ( āvaraṇāni ) apakṛṣya dharmatāṃ prakāśayatītyarthaḥ |

(9) ( tathāgataḥ ) amoghadarśanaḥ harita ( varṇaḥ ) udīcyāṃ diśi dundubhighoṣe ( nāma buddha- ) kṣetre ( virājate ) | ( ayaṃ hastadvayena ) buddhacakṣurdvayaṃ dhārayati | darśanamityeṣāṃ jñānam, anāvaraṇajñānamityarthaḥ | athavā darśanameteṣāṃ guṇaḥ | te mahāprajñākarūṇānetrābhyāṃ dharmatāṃ prakāśayanti sattvahitaṃ ca sādhayantītyarthaḥ | amoghaścaiteṣāṃ kāritram, yena te sarvasattvān abhyudayaniḥ śreyasaphalayorniyamena sthāpayanti |

(10) ( tathāgataḥ ) ratnacandraḥ pūrvottaradiśāyāṃ marīcikānāmni ( buddhakṣetre tiṣṭhati ) | ( ayaṃ ) haritaśveta ( varṇaḥ ) ( hastayoḥ ) ratnaṃ candraṃ ca dhārayan buddhaḥ evāsti | ratnamityeteṣāṃ guṇaḥ | candra iti jñānam, yaccaiteṣāṃ kāritram | ( arthastvasya ) pūrvavadavagantavyaḥ |

(11) tadanantaraṃ ( tathāgataḥ ) nirmalaḥ bhasmavyāpini ( buddha- ) kṣetre ( virājate ) | ( ayaṃ ) dhūma ( varṇaḥ ) bhasma ( varṇo ) va | ( hastayoḥ kramaśaḥ ) nirmalādarśadvayaṃ dhārayan tiṣṭhati | nirmalamityatra jñānam, yaccāvaraṇaprahāṇaṃ ( karoti ) | anyān ( sattvān ) nirmalīkartumasti tatsāmarthyam | āgantukamalīmasabalādirahitatvādatyanta-prakāśitatvaṃ ( teṣāṃ ) guṇaḥ | ebhyaḥ pūrvavannamaskāro vidheyaḥ | prathamaṃ daśakam |

teṣu ( prathamaḥ ) tāvannaraka ātyantikairduḥkhairanvitaḥ | ( te'pi dvividhāḥ- ) bhūyiṣṭhā abhūyiṣṭhāśca | tayoḥ prathame tāvat śītāḥ ( aṣṭau narakāḥ, aṣṭau ca ) uṣṇā ityevaṃ ṣoḍaśadhā bhavanti

tiryañco'jñānino bhavanti | te jarāyujādiyoniṣu sambhavanti | te ( tiryañco ) api dvividhā bhavanti | ākāreṇa tāvaccaturvidhāḥ | te cādhamayonijāḥ | madhyamakarmikāstāvat pretāḥ | iṣyamāṇānyapyannādikāni tairnopalabhyante | duṣṭo yamalokasteṣāṃ sthānam | te'pi dvidhā jñātavyāḥ | etāsāṃ tisṛṇāṃ durgatīnāṃ hetavaḥ prāyeṇa prāṇātipāta-matsara- mohajādikarmāṇītyavagantavyāḥ | ata ime trayaḥ 'durgatayaḥ' ityucyante |

antataśca laghūnāṃ duṣkarmāṇāṃ phalaṃ pratyantapradeśe ( janma ) | ima eva manuṣyadeveṣūpapannāanāmakṣaṇāḥ | duṣṭagatijanakatvād durgatayaḥ | yasmin pradeśe dharmādīnāṃ ( sarvathā ) abhāvaḥ sa pratyantaḥ ( pradeśaḥ ) | deśagato'yaṃ pratyantaḥ | mlecchā ityajñānino mūḍāḥ kutsitabhāṣā bhāṣiṇaśca | athavā pratyantā mlecchā ityapi kecid abhiprayanti | te'pyanena duṣkarmaṇāṃ sampādanena durgatiṣu gacchanti | dīrghāyuṣo devā bahulapuṇyatvena saha gādāhaṅkāriṇo bhavanti| te'parimitakālaṃ yāvattatra tiṣṭhanti | te mithyādṛṣṭayo'pi bhavanti, prāyaśo rūpadhātau nivāsaṃ kurvanti | athavā duṣṭasya ( cittasya ) nirodhābhyāsaṃ kṛtvā nirodhasaṃjñino ( asaṃjñinaḥ ) bhavantītyapyucyate | sarve te paścānmaraṇād narakeṣu gacchanti | ( daivāt ) manuṣyayonāvapi janmasambhave rūpādyādhipatyakāriṣu cakṣurādipañcasu ṣaṭsu vendriyeṣu doṣasadbhāvātte saddharmārthasya na jñātāro bhāgyavantaśca na bhavantu | teṣu ekasya dvayostrayāṇāṃ caturṇāṃ pañcāṇāṃ ṣaṇṇāṃ va ( indriyāṇāṃ ) vikalatvaṃ sambhāvyate | ( teṣu ) mānasendriye doṣāvasthānamatyantaṃ durbhāgyakaram | samyagdṛṣṭivikalānāṃ sattvānāṃ 'na santi buddhādayaḥ' ityadhvavasāyinī viparītadṛṣṭireva ucchedadṛṣṭiḥ | iyaṃ sarvākuśaleṣu mahāsāvadyā gurūtarā | śāśvatādyanyadṛṣṭayo'pi ( mithyādṛṣṭayaḥ ) santi |

ityevamaṣṭau bhavanti ( akṣaṇāḥ ) | buddhānāṃ ( loke ) prādurbhāvaḥ sāmānyena bhavati, tathāpi te buddhasya ( loke ) āgamanakāle na kevalaṃ nasmakārādikaṃ na kurvantyapitu apavādamapi kurvanti | api ca, idamevābhilakṣya buddhaśūnye sthāne janmāpi aṣṭamaḥ ( akṣaṇaḥ ) |

itthaṃ ( pāpānāṃ ) svarūpamabhidhāya kasmin viṣaye ( sthāne ) pratideśayitavyamitīdaṃ 'buddhe' tyādinā'bhidhīyate | sa eva samyak sākṣī, na tvanyaḥ | atra bhagavān buddha iti śākyamunirityevamādayaḥ | sarvajñatvātte jñānabhūtāḥ, śubhāśubhānā suspaṣṭāvagamād 'cakṣurbhūtāḥ' | sākṣibhūtā iti śubhāśubhayorviśesyāvabodhakā iti | śabdabhrānterabhāvātte pramāṇabhūtāḥ, avisaṃvādakā ityarthaḥ | manojñānena sarvajñātṛtvātte jñatāraḥ | prajñācakṣuṣā sarvadarśakattvātte vipaśyakāḥ ( vidarśakāḥ ) iti | 'agrataḥ' ityanena sāmpratikaḥ svasammukhībhāvaḥ |

kena vidhinā pratideśayitavyam ? 'āviṣkaromi' ityādinā| arthāt samyaktayedaṃ ( kathanaṃ ) na tu sampralāpādirūpeṇa | atra vacanena vyāharaṇamevāviṣkaraṇām | ( deśanā apraticchādaneti ) manasā pṛthakśaḥ pratideśaneti | imameva ( arthaṃ ) svīkṛtya vākye 'apraticchādanam' iti | 'na praticchādayāmi' iti viśadīkaromītyarthaḥ | evaṃvidhayā pratideśanayā ( sarvebhyaḥ pāpebhyaḥ ) viśuddhibhīvaṣyati |

evaṃ baladvayaṃ pradarśya samprati pratyāpattibalena pāpadeśanārtham "āyatyāṃ saṃvaramāpadye" ityuktam | tadapi paurvikaṃ ( pūrvakalakṛtaṃ pāpakarma saṃsmṛtya ) vipratisāraṃ karoti | idānīṃ pratideśayati, anāgate ( pāpasya ) akaraṇaṃ pratijānāti | pratideśanāyāṃ ( kṛtāyāṃ ) yadi punaḥ ( pāpa- ) ācaraṇaṃ kriyeta tadā pāpavṛddhireva syāt | yathā ( bhojanodakādinā yadi ) rogeṇa hānirbhavet tadā samprati bhojanodakādikam avarodhanīyam | ato'nantaramapi daśa akuśalādidoṣaṇāṃ pravāho vicchedanīyaḥ, anāgate ca ( evaṃvidhaṃ pāpaṃ ) anācarituṃ saṃvaraḥ pratijñā vā grahaṇīyā | ( anena vidhinā samastānāṃ ) pāpānāṃ viśuddhirbhaviṣyati |

ityevaṃ balatrayaṃ pradarśya samprati caturthasya pratipakṣasamudācārabalasya pratipādanārtham 'buddhāḥ' ityādikam ( uktam ) | atra sarveṣāṃ pāpānāṃ puna punaḥ vṛddhirodhanārtha puṇyasaṃcayārtha ca santatisthakuśalasya pradarśanaṃ tāvadauṣadhiriva jñeyam | atra bodhisattvasya samastāḥ pariṇāmanāḥ ṣaṭpāramitāpratisaṃyuktā bhavanti | ābhiḥ parigṛhītatvādimāḥ pāramitāsadṛśā eva | sā ( pariṇāmanā ) api dvividhā | tatra sottarā sarvānukūlā | te ( pariṇāmanākartrā ) bhadraṃ janma labdhamityapi jñātavyam | traidhātukayoniṣu sa devo manuṣyādirveti | "dānaṃ ...antaśaḥ" iti dānānukūlyam | tatrottamamapi ( dānaṃ ) jñātavyam | tiryagyoniriti śvānādayaḥ | laghugocaro'yam mahattamo'pi grahaṇīyaḥ | "ālopaḥ" iti laghu vastu, mahadapi jñātavyam | śīlamiti śīlānukūlyam, ( yathā- ) saṃvaraśīlādīni ( trividhaśīlāni ) | atyantāvadātatvād viśudhyutpādād vā kuśalamūlānyucyante | kṣāntyanukūla tāvad brahyacaryam tacca pāpavirahitaṃ sat maitryādiṣu sthitvā ākruṣṭasya akaraṇena arthād apratyākruṣṭena śramaṇadharmeṇa yuktam | rāgarahitaistāvad ākruṣṭakarmāṇi na karaṇīyāni | vīryānukūlyena bhavyasattvāḥ paripācyante | mahāvīrye sthitena mayā pañcābhijñābhiḥ sarvasattvānāṃ viparītadṛṣṭinivāraṇaṃ viparītamārgādapasāraṇaṃ kṛtvā ( citta ) -santatiṃ paripācya sanmārgādhirūdāḥ kriyante | ( arthāt ) muktāḥ kṛtārthāḥ kriyanta ityevaṃ jñātavyam | dhyānānukūlyena praṇidhi-prasthānau ( cittotpādau ) saṃvṛtiparamārtho ( bodhicittotpādau ca )

etāsāṃ ṣaṇṇāṃ pāramitānāṃ nayaḥ kīdṛśaḥ? etadartha ( mūle ) 'ekadhyaṃ piṇḍayitvā' ityādikamuktam | pṛthak-pṛthak kuśalānāṃ vastūnāṃ caikatra sampiṇḍanaṃ kriyate, sammiśraṇaṃ ( melanaṃ ) cāpyucyate | aviccheda iti saṃvaraḥ, ( arthāt ) prakṛtitaḥ asambhedāpādanam | kva pariṇāmayet ? anuttarabuddheṣu ( teṣāṃ samakṣaṃ pariṇāmayet ) | sā ( pariṇāmanā ) anuttarā śrāvakādibhyo viśiṣṭatvāt | nirūttara iti buddhaḥ, lokamatikramya sthitatvāt | so'pi dvividhaḥ | sarvebhya uttaraḥ bodhisattvaḥ | ( ataḥ ) bodhisattvo gurūḥ arthāduttaraḥ | tasmādapi gurūḥ ( uttaro va ) bhagavān buddhaḥ taduttarasya kasyāpyabhāvāt | sa eva bodhisattvamahāsattvaḥ, ( sa ) eva hi sarvajñaḥ | sarvebhya iyaṃ pariṇāmanā tāvat pariśuddhatrimaṇḍaletyapyucyate, yaścānupalambha eva | iyaṃ khalu bodhisattvānāṃ sāmānyapariṇāmanā | anuttarabuddhatvāvāpyate pariṇāmanā tāvadupāyakauśalam | etatpariṇāmanārtha 'yathā' ityādyuktam| yadi nāsti svayaṃ pariṇāmanājñānaṃ tadā anena ( pūrvoktavidhinā ) pariṇāmanaṃ praṇītetyādinā sādaraṃ ( pariṇāmayitavyam ) | traikālikabuddhaiḥ kṛtāyāḥ pariṇāmanāyāḥ sadṛśī pariṇāmanā mayā'pi sādaraṃ karaṇīyeti

etadanantaraṃ praṇīdhānam | buddhatvamavāptuṃ praṇidhānakāle bhavatu anuttarajñānamityākārakaṃ ( praṇidhānaṃ kriyate ) sarvapāpapratipakṣabhūtaṃ śaraṇagamanaṃ śreyaḥ | atrāpi śaraṇagamanasya ( abhiprāyastāvad ) 'narottamā jināḥ' ityādinā ( nirdiṣṭaḥ ) | ( śaraṇagamanādikaṃ tu ) sāmānyena pūrvaṃ pradarśitam | 'tathāpi' iti buddhamātrameva śaraṇagamananiṣṭheti ( nānyat ) | ( dharmasya saṃghasya ca śaraṇagamanaṃ) nātra kathitam | atra 'narottamāḥ' iti manuṣyarūpadhārī nirmāṇakāyaḥ | 'guṇāḥ' iti daśabalādayo buddhaguṇāḥ | 'varṇān' iti viśeṣeṇa stavaḥ | ananteti pañcatriṃśad ( buddhādayaḥ ) | sāgaro'tra upamārūpeṇa samupasthāpitaḥ, yaścākṣayaḥ | añjali- ( śabdena ) kāya- ( praṇāmaḥ ) ( dyotyate ) | vākcittābhyāṃ hi śaraṇagamanaṃ niṣpadyate |

caturbhiśca balairevaṃ sarvapāpaṃ viśudhyati |
sambhāraparipūrttyā'to buddhatvāptiṃ prajānatām | |

saṃkṣepeṇātra cākhyātaṃ jñeya sūtraiśca bhūyasā |
jñātvaivaṃ balayatnābhyāṃ karttavyā pāpadeśanā |

praśasyā kāyaratnāptiḥ kausīdyaṃ middhamutsṛjet |
svamanaḥ svena dṛṣṭvā'ho mānaṃ styānaṃ na ca kriyāt | |
